Here's my nephew last week with his first fishy!

It's a creek chub from the Cut River (Lansing Rd. halfway in between Higgins and Houghton).

Great pictures. I remember Creek Chubs from years ago. Always fun to catch. We used to go with my dad to catch them and then he would be gone Sunday morning on a Pike fishing trip. He would come back with a couple of Pike and no Chubs.;)

I agree. Very nice peaceful pictures. And that is great of you sharing your wonderful sport with a kid. All I have to say is +1 for you.
Good Fishing, MOOSE

And that my friend was our 100% intention. My brother (pictured with his son in the 1st pic there) and I grew up catching chubs from the very same darn stretch of river since we were 2.

Here's my summer vacation in a nutshell as a kid growing up:

After dinner you go to the Cut and catch about 10-12 nice chubs. Especially those nice big ones with the bony spikes sticking up from their heads!

You get home...fill a bucket with cold water and put a net over the top so the raccoons don't kill them all over night.

Wake up at 5 am...and go pike fishing until about 7:30 (average catch 2-6 pike).

Go home...clean the pike...eat lunch...then fish Higgins or Houghton for the afternoon.

Eat dinner...then go get more chubs for tomorrow morning..

(repeat 13 times).

No reason those days should end...my nephews are gonna grow up doing just that...
