Mana:
just got back from fishing the mississippi river pools 14 thru 17 (roughly 70 miles of fishable waters with locks and dams).  in 6 days of pre-fishing and 2 of those tournament fishing i never caught even 1 legal size walleye, sauger or saugeye ( walleye had to be 15 to 20 inches with only one over 27 inches and sauger and saugeye at least 15 inches). two team members did get in the top 20 and cashed checks.  after longlining like the locals and anchoring/pitching jigs and losing lots of baits decided handlining to be the ONLY way to really fish that system (day one and day two leader handlined also) my team members and i lost LOTS of rapala's, shanks, weights with most being lost by our co-anglers.  how bad was it?  48 out of 90 boats (there were boats that left before the tourney due to the bad fishing) never weighed a fish day one.. 9lbs was first and 4lbs was 10th place day one.  the day one leader caught 3 sauger day 2 to keep his lead.

we are spoiled here!  i'll admit it!!!!

I agree I have been to those type fishibng places before.  We have it made.  The only draw back for in this area is lack of access sites.

We do have the best fresh water fishing in the world, right here in our back yards.
