Just wondering if anyone has been out for the early bow season or the first few days of the firearm season. I've been seeing a lot of deer where I hunt in Manistee Co., just not too many shot opportunities. I did finally get a chance this past Friday when a mature doe came down a small ridge in front of my blind and gave me a 30 yard broadside shot. She ran off about 40 yards and dropped in sight. I sure do like an easy track. I didn't realize how big this deer really was until I walked up on her. She was HUGE! One of the biggest bodied deer I've taken. The DNR aged her at 6-1/2.

Yeah. Tippy dam is only 12 miles away from where we hunt. We're also 8 miles from the Betsie River and near the Little Manistee and Bear Creek. But this time of year I usually have venison on my mind ![]() Last edited on Wed Nov 21st, 2018 01:34 am by Terry ____________________ If people concentrated on the real important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. |
