been a while since I have posted a report. We went out with LSCWA Board member Rich O, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 for perch. My boat was in the shop, so Rich O offered to take us out to chase perch for my son's perch contest. The day turned out to be fantastic! The weatherman was wrong, and the 10-12 mph winds never showed up.
We hit a lot of buoys' on the shipping channel and finally found a bunch of perch. The perch were small and you had to weed through them to get any keepers. We caught 70 in two hours on pieces of worms - NOT minnows!
we caught 3 small walleye as well on perch rigs. There was a guy trolling the channel and told use he picked up 17 walleye - mostly small - in the channel.
- bouy 30 (everal boats at bouy 29 too)
- Water temp 71
- Wind 5-6- NW
- 15-17 FOW
- Use pieces of crawlers
- use tight line perch rig
Side note - be sure to check online the FLW BFL schedule on weekends, as they are using Harley Ensign and the lot filled up by 7 am.
Where's is Sweetwater??
