I have a 16 foot aluminum boat that I am outfitting for spring fishing in the SCR. I looking for some advise from the guys and gals that anchor and whip fish for their recommendations for the anchor type that keeps them put in their favorite fishing spot.

I used a common Danforth type but it was important to have 6 feet of chain added. That river has the strongest current you will ever see any were. But in the typical whip areas its not a problem.

I second that you must have a 6' chain on the anchor and enough good rope not the plastic kind that they say is anchor rope! In normal conditions You will need to double the amount of rope out say you are in 30 feet of water you would need at least 60 foot out. In the river if it is windy that day you may need more!

Just bought a 20 lb. Navy anchor this fall, holds great with my 1750 Spectrum!

Thanks to everyone for the input. I'm leaning towards the Navy style.
