I bought a new MotorGuide trolling motor late last year. It didn’t work when I was getting things ready for this year’s season. It was still under warranty, brought it in they had it for 4 weeks picked it up, hit the river and it didn’t work. Brought it back to the authorized repair shop, now I have to wait again. Called MotorGuide and they gave me no help, they won’t even call the shop to put a rush on mine. I will never buy a MotorGuide again!!

Sorry to hear about your TM problems. Years ago when I started tournament fishing I had Motor Guide. It constantly went down and stopped functioning. I was lucky because the tour had a MG tech truck at every stop. He traded my unit out for a new one 3 times over 2 years.

I now use a Minnkota Terova and it has worked great for the last 4 years.

Good luck
Keith

I agree with Keith. I have used a Min Kota terrova with I-pilot, linked with my graphs and a remote the last 5 years. It works like a charm!

The club is raffling off a top of the line Minn Kota this year, be sure to get a ticket or two!

I had 2 different Motorguides fail years ago, switched to Minnkota. Not sure I'd switch back.

I’m buying a few tickets, for sure. Then I can use my MotorGuide as an anchor , that’s all it’s good for anyways

I run the Motorguide xi5 this will be my 3rd year with it and i've have had zero problems. Rob Hoover runs one as well and no issues .. I had a minn kota on my old boat and it got the job done.. but the xi5 linked to my lowrance unit is perfect.. ill never go back to a minn kota.. I guess everyone has there own preference, sorry about your experience with Motorguide

I have had problems with my Minnkota's over the years. Hang them on the front of the boat where they bounce on every wave and things will break. I have heard good things about the XI5.

That said I also picked up a few lottery tickets for the Minnkota so that I have a backup.

My Minn Kota Terrova died today using that anchor mode perch fishing in no wind. 2 hang ups trying to get information from 2 different places. Needed a heat gun to remove a sensor. Could not even find a Serial Number on the unit. Finally determined it was a Control Board that cost $200 on line (PN 2774014) but Lockman's says they have them in stock for $112. Not the easiest or cheapest thing to work on by any means.

I'm for the Minn Kota. Minn Kota has equipment for all kinds of situations. Go see John Cornish at coastline in fair haven. He is our dealer and he knows his business. He is in our news letter.
