Just figured I'd share this...

Coming home from Higgins Lake we always passed the sign at Exit 101 on I-75. But you know how it is when you're on the way home from up north...you don't feel like stopping once you get down to Oakland County.

Last weekend we decided to check out the place (heck we had the State Park sticker already).

It looks like a VERY nice place to do some fishing or bring the family or whatever. The beach is pretty nice (not Higgins Lake standards but exponentially better than Metro or Stony). All sand...but it's fairly shallow at first (i.e. warm!).

It's really spread out and open. True to the name...there are 7 lakes. Well..the smallest 3 might be glorified "Ponds" but whatever.

2 separate boat launches. Lots of lilly pad Pike fishing coves and whatnot. And the darn place is like a ghost town on the weekdays. These pics are from Tuesday after the 4th weekend.

You could kayak, canoe, forever in ths place.

Just another view...there are lots of scenic lookout areas and such. There's a fishing pier too at one of the lakes but I didn't drive by it.

Oh...and all the facilities (Bathrooms et.al) were 100% clean. I think the campground had hot showers and everything.

I can't think of a better place (barely an hour from here) to spend a weekend with the family without going all the way "Up North".

Plus I get to see my dad at the Great Lakes VA Cemetery down the road.:D

Nice pics of a nice place to spend some time. I bet those lilly pads hold some pretty nice largemouth bass.  I'm thinking a black rubber worm with a split shot in front cast right in the pockets of the weeds.
Good Fishing, MOOSE
