cant wait to get back on the tractor  and plant some more deer and critter chow. it was a  good year last year with plenty of food for  all the animals on my property to eat through the cold winter we are having this year... wouldnt it suck to live outside all winter day and night with no food around..its the least i can do !

Do you have different crops for each season? Or, just one crop for the whole year?

i plant mostly corn and beans but i harvest one feild a year and plant winter wheat. i sell the corn i harvest  to pay for  seed ,fertilizer,  and weed killer. this way i can rotate my crops a bit . i also plant every veggie  known to man..i always have plenty extra  veggies in the fall  if you guys need any .  oh ya i got a bunch of apple and pear trees.

What about brassica crops for late fall and winter grazing. My brother would mix wheat, grasses, and brassica and plant the mix along the sides of the two tracks and the edges of some open fields. The deer had something to graze on till other plants started sprouting in the spring.

Brassica is GREAT stuff. We use it in a mix of other crops in our food plots. When the frosts hit it sweetens them up and the deer go NUTS for them.

It looks very similar to sugar beets only on a smaller scale.

You should be able to buy the seed at farmer's co-ops. As for Gander Mtn I think that it will be mixed with other seeds as part of a blend to plant for late summer or fall.

The QDMA has some free literature and some books that you can buy on food plots. They also have some food plot seed packs for sale. They have a pretty extensive booth at Outdoorama.
