My condolences to the Boland family...

Ralph Harvey Boland
(October 23, 1931 - March 31, 2010)

Ralph H. Boland, age 78 of Warren, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born on October 23, 1931 in Detroit, the son of the late Harvey and the late Adela (nee: Zielke) Boland.
With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Ralph for his service to our country during the Korean War era. A decorated Corporal, he was a proud member of our galant Unites States Marine Corps.
Ralph was employed with the telephone company where he extended many years of dedicated service as a Linesman. When Ralph wasn't working, his greatest passion and escape was found in the beauty & majesty of nature. He was known for his love of the outdoors and for the joy and pleasure it brought him to be out in the open. Ralph was an avid sportsman who especially liked to hunt, fish, and ice fish. His appreciation and skills with the rod & reel were so important to him, he took his abilities a step further by designing and making his own lures. Ralph also enjoyed sharing the outdoors with his loved ones, and lived for the moments they would make their treks up north to the family's mobile home in Bellaire, Michigan. Summer stays at the trailer were a given. But, truly, Ralph and his family would steal away up north as often as possible to enjoy their little slice of "Outdoor Heaven." Another aspect of the sporting blood that pursed through his veins came through his appreciation of the Great American Sport ~ NASCAR. He loved the adrenaline-pumping action that the sport provided as drivers competed at triple digit speeds.
Ralph was also renown for the huge sweet tooth he had that was always getting fed. He loved it all, but his favorites were definitely cheesecake, pie, and ice cream. But that wasn't the only sweetness that he enjoyed. The two most important treats of all were found in his 2 granddaughters, Elisa and Christine. A loving & doting grandfather, Ralph adored those girls and was ecstatic for each and every moment they shared together. And unique to this grandpa, he made the decision early on that he was going to capture as many moments on camera and video that he could...and that he did. To these two cherubs, and the rest of Ralph's family and friends, he leaves a legacy of love that will forever keep him close in their hearts.
Beloved husband of Patricia. Dear father of Ruth (Matthew) Kaimala, Elizabeth (Wes) Harris, and John (Donna) Boland. Brother of Bill Boland and the late Carol Schulte. Loving grandfather of Elisa and Christine.
Visitation for Ralph will be on Monday, April 5th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie in state at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights on Tuesday, April 6th from 10:30am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00am.
