This year we will be holding it at a new location, Metro Beach Metropark. The day is

Sunday, July 27 2008. The starting time is 9am and it will run until

2pm. This club sponsored event is open to all members and their families and invited guests. The more

children the more fun everyone can have. A lunch will be served throughout the day's

event. Delicious hot-dogs, bags of chips, and cold pop will be available. What would a fishing outing be

without a fish fry of breaded fish. All of this will be served by gracious club members who want to see

the kids and their parents enjoying themselves. Since this is a fishing event dust off the rods

and reels and the tackle box. Bring bait if you want but the club will be able to supply some worms. The

kids will have a blast doing some shore and pier fishing for anything and everything the lake has to offer.

There will be prizes awarded to the children (ages 2 through 16) for many different fishing categories.

If you plan on attending this event please contact Geoff Regulski (586) 872-1916 or Mark Tews

(586) 557-3767. You can also see Geoff at the club membership meeting this month or in July. We are

asking for your cooperation in this area since it is important to have an accurate count when purchasing

the food and beverages. Metro Beach Metropark is located at the end

of Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd) at Jefferson Avenue. Turn into the park at Jefferson and go up to the toll

booth. There is a $4 entry fee into the park. An annual pass is available for people who make frequent

trips to the MetroParks. Once you are inside the park find a convenient parking spot and take the train to

Picnic Site #2. The train is 50 cents for adults and free for children up to 15 years old.

Some other quick notes are that the park will open at 6am and closes at 11pm on Sunday. Besides

the shore and pier fishing the park also offers several playgrounds, a putt-putt golf course and swimming.
